In this episode, I will be talking about The battle is not yours but God’s.
From time to time we will be faced with different challenges. The key thing however is not to deal with these matters in your own strength but to seek God for guidance and wisdom on how to overcome these challenges.
Joshua J Marine said challenges are what make life interesting; Overcoming them is what makes life meaningful.
We will be looking at the Story of Jehoshaphat. 2 Chronicles 20:1-26
Here we see Jehoshaphat being faced with his enemies from surrounding nations coming to war against his nation and he was afraid, which is natural when faced with challenges or battles beyond our control.
So he seeks the Lord for guidance and proclaims a fast throughout all Judah.
The people from all the towns of Judah came to assemble in Jerusalem to seek the Lord’s help.
As he stood before the people in front of the new courtyard at the Temple of the Lord and prayed. He claimed the promise God made to his ancestors.
Which was ‘Whenever they are faced with any calamity such as war, plague, or famine, they can come and stand in God’s presence before this Temple where His name is honored. They can cry out to God to save them, and He will hear and rescue them.’
The Spirit of the Lord came upon Jahaziel and he said, Do not be afraid and do not be dismayed at this great horde, for the battle is not yours but God’s. He further told them what will happen and to stand firm, hold they position, and see the salvation of the Lord on your behalf, For the Lord will be with them.”
Then Jehoshaphat bowed his head with his face to the ground, and all the people fell down before the LORD and worshiped Him.
Jehoshaphat told the people to believe God at his word and he appointed singers to walk ahead of the army, singing to the Lord and praising him for his holy splendor.
Just as God promise they won the battle against they enemies.
Here are the Key principles learned from this lesson:
- When we are faced with challenges or battles, go to God in prayer and fasting and seek His guidance on how to handle the situation.
- Depending on the situation you will need people to help you pray and fast.
- Always pray the promises God has made to you.
- Wait on God’s directions on how to proceed and be obedient to his instructions.
- You must believe God at His word.
- Worship and praise God while you are going through your challenges and also after you have overcome.
- He is fighting for you, and you will overcome your enemies and challenges
Father in heaven, I ask that You help us with whatever challenges or battles we are currently facing. May we not rely on our own understanding, but in all our ways acknowledging you, letting you guide and direct us. Thank you for fighting our battles and giving up the victory. In Jesus name, Amen.
