Hope to the Hopeless

PUBLISHER’s CORNERHope to the hopeless.

There are so many things going on in the world today, with Covid-19 and how it’s impacting the world economy and  people losing their lives, jobs, and homes. Things just seem hopeless.

Hopelessness leads to frustration, anxiety, depression, and suicide.

As believers, we have a hope in Jesus Christ, and we need to share that hope with others, especially now, at this time. We need to give hope to the hopeless.

Some may question whether Christians are showing that sense of hopelessness also.

From observation, I will say yes, some are, but we as believers need to encourage each other in the faith. “We who are strong have an obligation to bear with the failings of the weak, and not to please ourselves. Let each of us please his neighbor for his good, to build him up” (Romans 15:1-2, New International Version).

In every crisis lies the seed of opportunity. We just need to shift our mindset to the possibilities that are before us. Remember that saying, “necessity is the mother of invention”?  This may just be the time for you to use your hobbies and skill set to start a new business or further develop an existing one.

There are several ways we can give hope to those who are facing difficult times.

We can provide food items, assist them where possible with their bills,  or accommodate them with shelter and clothing. But most importantly, we can share the word of God with them and listen to what they have to say.

In conclusion, Jesus said this: “Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father which is in heaven” (Matthew 5:16, King James Bible). This time is a great opportunity for us not only to meet the physical needs of others but the spiritual as well. We must share the hope and love of Jesus Christ with others.
