Having a family prayer altar in your home is very important for your family!

A family prayer altar sets in order God’s divine will and purpose for your family. On the family altar, God reveals Himself to you as He gives you guidance, prophetic releases, and wisdom on how to fulfill His purpose in your family.

It’s also where you can pray for the needs of your immediate family members and those close to you. Today, many Christian families are not spending quality time in prayer before the Lord.

Is this the reason we are seeing a greater level of breakdowns in many Christian families?

God wants us to rebuild our individual altars, family altars, and marriage altars. By doing this, we will bring back the spiritual balance to our individual lives, families, and marriages, thereby strengthening family relationships and shaping the destinies of families for generations. As parents and guardians, God wants us to always pray and not faint (Luke 18:1).

"A family that prays together stays together."

When we pray, we are not only fellowshipping and communing with God, but we are also affecting the spirit realm. Prayer gives us power and authority in the spirit realm as kingdom citizens.

Whatever we bind on earth is bound in heaven, and whatever we loose on earth is loosed in heaven. Prayer also gives us the authority to have legal access to what God has for us. However, we must ask according to His will and purpose for our lives.

If we want to see the blessings of God in our lives and those of our families, we need to rebuild family prayer altars within our households. It all starts, however, with you, the individual, building back your Personal altar.

If the family altar is not activated within the home, it would be difficult to achieve the purposes and plans of God for our lives and our families.

The enemy could then accomplish his evil agenda in our families and the lives of our spouses and children.

How to Set Up A family Prayer Altar

Raising a family prayer altar is a simple process.

It helps you set a covenanted time to communicate with God.

1. Find a designated room in your home where you will go to pray and anoint that place with oil (olive oil) as you dedicate that place to God.

This opens the gates for the presence of God to dwell there and provides an atmosphere in which God can bless and reside.

2. Set an agreed time to go there and involve each family member on the altar.

Persons can take turns daily in leading worship, scripture reading and praying, while others agree with him/her.

This aids in the spiritual growth and development of every family member.

3. Family members can share prophecies, visions, dreams, and things they encounter daily.

This helps the family gain insight into what God will do in and through their lives.

The family altar is your covenant with God so you must honor your commitment to Him by being disciplined with your time before Him. Let your offering of worship and praise go up to him as a sweet-smelling savor.

You must also live a life that is pure and holy before Him. By confessing your sins and presenting your body as a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service (Romans 12:1).

"The most accurate measure of your spiritual health is your prayer life."

If you are married, you and your spouse also need to rebuild your marriage altar.

Then rebuild your family altar. We can’t walk together as a family if we are not in agreement with each other.

If the family altar is not activated within the home, it would be difficult to achieve the purposes and plans of God for our lives and our families.

How to Rebuild The Altar?

“If your altar has been torn down because you did not maintain it, here is how you can rebuild it:

  1. Repent and ask God to forgive you for breaking your covenant with Him.
  2. Rededicate your altar to Him and anoint it with oil.
  3. Meditate on God’s Word morning and night.
  4. Always be in prayer.”

Prayer

Father, I give thanks and praise for all families.

Help every representative of a family who is reading this post not to give up on their family. Help them implement the things that they have learned in their lives.

You know the hearts and their thoughts because you see them afar off. You know the hurt, frustration, and pain many people are suffering in their family, but You want them to forgive each person for all the wrong that has been done to them.

Let Your prayer altars be established in these families.

As they commit to building and rebuilding the family altar,

I renounce every evil agent that is speaking and working against the destinies of these families, in the name of Jesus.

May families be reunited as one and agree on Your Word.

May You give them the grace and strength to build the family altars.

May their families fulfill their purpose and destinies in You, Lord.

May they prosper and be in good health, even as their soul prospers.

As their family altars speak for them throughout the generations,
